Labrot House Project

It’s a rare treat for us to get to work on homes that really feel like they have a soul…like they have a story to tell. And it’s even a rarer treat to stage a Historical Landmark! We recently debuted our work on the Labrot house and are so excited to share how this beauty came together to land on the market in Boulder, Colorado.

The mid-century modern Labrot House was originally designed by notable local architect named Hobie Wagener in 1954 for nationally recognized photographer Syl Labrot. It was officially recognized as a City of Boulder Landmark in 2008.

From the original owner’s son, "It's pretty amazing to see that prior to the renovation, the property looked pretty much as it did when I lived there as a child...my father was Syl Labrot, a photographer known for his innovative abstract color photography and a member of a circle of Colorado photographers from that period that included Arnold Gassan, Winter Prather, and Walter Chappell. It really is a lovely location and I remember it well."

Bringing this home back to its original grandeur has taken a monumental effort from a diverse group of women. We’re so thankful to have gotten to work with all of these local women. The house is now ready to find its new owner!

Meet the dream team

CHERI BELZ - We can’t mention this home without also giving a shoutout to this talented local architect behind a 2007 remodel and addition to the home. Cheri included significant green building upgrades to the home and incorporated design elements like post and beam construction, extensive glass and mid-mod materials.

FIRUZEH SAIDI - This local luxury real estate agent is originally from Iran and moved to Colorado in 1979. She has been selling homes in the area for X years and is so passionate about every home she brings to market and delights in finding each home the right owner.

IVY LANE HOME STAGING - Hey, that’s us! We are the all-female team of experienced Colorado home stylists providing home staging services to realtors and homeowners

PESHA RUDNICK - Pesha Rudnick is the founding artistic director of Local Theater Company where she pursues the company’s mission to discover and develop new American plays – what role did she play in the home?

We love working with as many local artists as possible and this home is no different! We featured an array of talented female artists in the Labrot home:

AMY METIER - A Denver-based artist whose paintings don't speak about anything that can be labeled in language, in search of the deepest place in the subconscious. We’re obsessed with her mixed media pieces that utilize color to elicit emotion.

INGA PAE - A Boulder-based artist whose work blends reality and digital art. We love the modern and bold impact her pieces have in the Labrot home.

ALISSA DAVIES - A Boulder-based abstract artist who has been making art her whole life. The contrast in her pieces evoke such drama for us - what do they evoke for you??

ARIANA J HOOCH - A Boulder-based abstract artist whose flowy lines and brilliant colors really mesh well with the mid-mod design of the Labrot home.

We are so humbled to have had the privilege to work with this historical landmark home in Boulder, Colorado. Each home brings something unique to us and this one is certainly no exception. Between the sweeping ceilings, the killer mid-mod vibes, and the connection to nature with the flatirons so close and the huge door to the patio, the Labrot house is one we will always remember.
